If you want to find a good sashimi place, Yama Sushi Marketplace is the place to go! Since coming back from Japan, I have been seeking new restaurants that reminds of the country. If you want to experience the hospitality and quality of Japan, go to this market place! The prices are also unbeatable! Just note this is not a restaurant, and is more similar to a grab-and-go and fish market.

Quick one stop shop to get your sushi fix in the West LA area. They have various sushi here from pre-packed meals, to freshly cut fish. Also if you're looking for small gifts or trinkets for that special someone, this is your spot as well. I've got one too many cat blind boxed figures here and they always change their inventory! Definitely pop by if you need some fresh inexpensive sushi on the go, or just want to sit down and enjoy some fresh sashimi on their tables outside!

After loving the original location in San Gabriel, I was pleasantly surprised when I found out there's one on the west side. Rolls are made fresh every hour. This location is slightly smaller and more crowded to walk around in but it's not too bothersome.

Absolutely love this spot! Such reasonable prices for quality sushi very much so on par with medium to high grade restaurants! Restaurants obviously can range greatly in terms of quality regardless of what supposed level that they are! But so delicious and tons to choose from and the workers there are very kind and helpful! You can even go up to the counter and choose a slab of fish and then they will freshly cut it for you right there! During certain times they even have a bento that you can get so that you get a bit of a combination of food. They also have some hot items to get like chicken karage or chicken curry on rice or something like that! I usually get one sushi tray, one cut roll, and one hot food item as more of a filler since I eat a lot and it's about 30 bucks but such quality food!!! Super super chill spot and they have some seating area inside and outside but not a ton so it's more designed to be a takeout style place. Have some merch that you can buy and or some other cool little knick knacks for purchase. Even have an Ultraman bowl! Was very tempted to get it! I'd even picked some deliciousness up and taking it out on a picnic. Perfect!

Great 2nd location for Yama. Been to their original location in San Gabriel several times. Great place for well priced sushi and rolls. This location is great. Perfect for those on the west side cause San Gabriel is far. In a small plaza with decent amount of parking. Food was solid as expected, but I feel like the California roll wasn't as good as the one in San Gabriel. Would need to try again though to compare. Would come back when I'm in the area.

August 14, 2024 We're in Heaven!! I have had this place on my "Sushi List" for a while now. My pal Deysi was going to Costco today and I mentioned she should stop here on the way home. I've been sick for a few days so I didn't go. $55 (plus tip): Three of us were amazed at what she brought home. We devoured the fish, so no pics. They sliced the slabs of fish and made wonderful looking plates. We couldn't be happier or more well fed. And the price and service were incredible. I can't wait to go myself.

Wow pretty excellent sashimi for takeout! What a super cute, quaint little market, selling Japanese trinkets, chips & snacks, wines, sake, they have a lot of options from the fridge - takeout sushi, sashimi, California rolls, poke, cooked items. A few tables inside and outside. Parking lot shared for the several businesses/restaurants. A lot of local patrons going in and out to pick up their sushi fix. Perfect place to get goodies for the beach and picnic , grab and go. They also make sushi platters for your parties!

Hi, long time no review. And wow, I didn't realize how many times we've been/ordered from Yama sushi since our first take out experience. This place has easily become one of our favorite sushi spot. We've only been to the one on the West side as we love stopping by here and grabbing a few snacks to enjoy at the beach. Everything we ordered has been so fresh and tasty, and I frigging LOVE the karaage/chicken katsu from here. The chicken or batter has a nice sweetness to it, and it's so flavor & juicy (and still as good eaten cold!) The market they have has tons of snacks and cute merchandise, I can't speak for the one in San Gabriel but I do wish they had more seating outside though. Service has been great and they're very accommodating when it comes to your pick up order. I've been raving about this place to all my friends. OH and bonus stars for being surprisingly affordable. WE LOVE YOU YAMA SUSHI :)

I've been here a bunch of times and feel so lucky to live nearby an awesome family-owned establishment like this! Yes, you come here for the affordable, amazing-quality sashimi, but don't overlook the California Rolls. Not even close to being my favorite rolls (I love raw fish, so I stay away from Cali rolls), but theirs is seriously bomb.com. Huge, awesome rice-to-filling ratio, and freaking delicious. You can get lunch or dinner here for less than $15 and have a date night for around $40 worth of food. They have a huge variety of fish in smaller quantities, so it's easy to get a variety of sashimi for a smaller group. Their curated market is filled with artisanal sauces and fun snacks. Staff is super friendly at the fish market and the cash register, too. Always a positive time when visiting Yama's. Tip: if you're grabbing a meal with 4+ people, try to order ahead for a sushi platter - it's a great value!
